123 2002 DESIGNER Modem Men’s Modem New York /LA Spring-Summer 2003 Covers by ROSS LOVEGROVE Roos Lovegrove (1958, Cardiff) is a Welsh artist and industrial designer. His style expresses the search for original materials and gives life to ergonomic and sensual shapes. His creations establish a relationship between tradition and modernity. He is a designer and visionary who’s work is considered to be at the very apex of stimulating a profound change in the physicality of our three dimensional world. In the early 1980’s Roos Lovegrove graduated from Manchester Polytechnic with 1st Class BA Hons Industrial design and became a Master of Design of Royal College of Art, London three years later. Inspired by the logic and beauty of nature his design possess a trinity between technology, materials science and intelligent organic form, creating what many industrial leaders see as the new aesthetic expression for the 21st Century. In the early 1980’s Lovegrove designed Frog Design in West Germany, Walkmans for Sony, Computers for Apple Computers . Later he moved to Paris as consultant to Knoll International . Being author of the highly successful Alessandri Office System . Roos was invited to join the Atelier de Nimes, and consulted, amongst others Cacharel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Dupont. Roos Lovegrove won numerous international awards. His work was published and exhibited internationally, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum NY, Axis Centre Japan, Pompidou Centre, Paris and the Design Museum, London,
