122 2010 DESIGNERS Modem Women’s Milano Modem Women’s Paris Fall-Winter 2010-2011 Covers by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec , are brothers and designers based in Paris. They have been working together for about fifteen years bonded by diligence and challenged by their distinct personalities. Their studio is based in Paris From early as 1997, they were noticed by art director Giulio Cappellini on the occasion of the presentation of the “disintegrated kitchen” at the Salon du meuble in Paris. He entrusted them with their first industrial design projects: Closed Bed and Spring Chair. In 2000, designer Issey Miyake commissioned the interior design of a space for the A-Poc clothing collection in Paris. Since then, the brothers Bouroullec design for the industrialists Vitra, Kvadrat, Magis, Kartell, Ligne Roset. At the same time, they carry out a research activity, essential in the development of their work, within the Kreo gallery, where they present four personal exhibitions between 2001 and 2008. They also carry out architectural projects such as the Floating House in 2006. Functional, balanced, but also light and poetic, the formal universe of the two designers getting rich with new pieces of furniture. They constitute a perennial universe from ephemeral and disposable modes. Several monographic exhibitions were devoted to Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec , including those of the Design Museum in London in 2002, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, La Piscine, Museum of Art and Industry in Roubaix in 2004. Also their creations are apart of collections at National Museum of Modern Art, Center Pompidou in Paris, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Design Museum in London and Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.
