128 2017 ARTIST / PHOTOGRAPHER Modem Women’s Milano Modem Women’s Paris Fall-Winter 2017-2018 Covers by SONIA SIEFF Sonia Sieff (born 1979 in Paris) is a French photographer and filmmaker. Her work was described as a way of fading obscurantism, which welcomes both, a quintessential technique, and the ability of Sonia Sieff to supply the whole palette of characters of her models. At first, Sieff wanted to become a writer, but at an early age of 16 she moved her focus on photography. An year later, she started her professional career, and very soon after she was making set photography. By the age of 20, she was a fashion and portrait photo editor for Journal du Polar. Sieff improved her skills, during her teamwork experience with renowned cameramen. With her widen background, she began to work for the magazines Première and Elle, before moving to fashion, beauty and nude photography. In collaboration with her mother Barbara Rix , Sieff wrote a retrospective book on her father’s ( Jeanloup Sieff ) work. In 2013, her work was presented at the Colette boutique, as part of the exhibition Les Sieff 3. In 2017 the book Les Françaises was published by Rizzoli, which consist 155 photographies of feminine nudes. Nowadays, Sieff is making short movies, and collaborates with Vogue Japan and Italian, Figaro Japan, Telegraph and many international magazines.
