BIOGRAPHICAL CATALOG OF THE MODEM'S COVERS AUTHORS

129 2006 ARTIST / PHOTOGRAPHER Modem Men’s Modem New York /LA Fall-Winter 2006-2007 Covers by SPENCER TUNICK Spencer Tunick , the American artist and photographer best known for his large- scale nude shoots and his human universe within urban society. A community of men and women laid bare in public, freed from all social conditioning and temporal signs, which is integrated into the landscape and gives life to a new aesthetic, original dimension. His photographs question us about the latent contradictions between Man and his vital environment, our individual role and our collective identity. Spencer Tunick, as part of his artistic research, had to fight against the Giuliani administration in New York (1992-2000) and was arrested five times. He was prosecuted by the City and won by decree of the Supreme Court of the United States. An act that will allow the American Legislation to extend the limits of civil liberties and expression. Today, Spencer Tunick ’s works are part of the public and private collections of many American institutions and, in Europe, the prestigious collection of Saatchi Gallery in London and National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens.
