82 2005 DESIGNER Modem Men’s Modem New York /LA Fall-Winter 2005-2006 Covers by MARCEL WANDERS Dutch designer Marcel Wanders symbolizes the spirituality and the fantasy of the Design. Born in 1963 near Amsterdam, he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Arnhem in 1988. Since then, he works as a freelance designer. He founded “ Wanders Wonders ” in 1995 and created the studio Marcel Wanders in Amsterdam. He is Artistic Director of the “Moooi” company and was one of the protagonists of the experimental label “Droog Design” . During his professional career, he has produced products for various design publishers such as Cappellini, Boffi, Magis ... By his words: “ I am not interested in formal design but the way that people will use it ”. His work is characterized by the desire to take natural materials or existing objects and then restore them with a new aesthetic or new functions.
