BELGIUM, Brussels - artists protest against museum of modern and contemporary art closure

Thursday, March 9th 2011, 200 people protested at Brussels Beaux Arts Museum against the rehabilitation of the museum of modern and contemporary art into a «Fin de siècle Museum» specialized in art from the end of the 19th century. Following artist Bernard Villier’s appeal, the protest gathered many artists and professionals from the art world together. They are against Belgian Minister Sabine Laruelle who defends the museum director Michel Darguet’s decision based on the concept of museum management autonomy.
