Prizegiving

The jury of the 26th International Fashion and Photography French Festival of Hyères, chaired by the Belgian designer Raf Simons, awarded the following designers : Léa Peckre, Céline Méteil, and Émilie Meldem.

- Grand Prix du Jury L'Oréal Professionnel for fashion : Léa Peckre, (France, women collection). This prize includes a 15.000 euro grant and offers the winner a hairstylists section backstage for next S/S Fashion Week 2012.<sld(leapeckre)|right>

The dark world of Léa Peckre, who graduated from La Cambrein Brussels and then became an intern at Jean-Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, Margiela and currently working for Isabel Marant, seducted the jury's members - including among others the Proenza Shouler duet, Christopher Kane and Cathy Horyn (New York Times)… Her collection « Les cimetières sont des champs de fleurs » (meaning "Graveyars are fields of flowers") is in the middle of the « Architecture Couture » trend : structured models, stiff shapes embroidered with sequins and pleated mull. Léa Peckre showed veiled in black, nun-like models. Everyone can interpret it in his own way, according to the designer. <sld(celinemeteil)|left>

- Première Vision Prize and Public Prize of the city of Hyères : Céline Méteil (France, women collection), received a 10.000 euro grant.

Céline Méteil studied at Lisaa (Paris) before collaborating with John Galliano, Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga and Felipe Oliveira Baptista.

Her collection, « Plié Backstage », entirely white, offers a resolutely angelic vision of femininity. Her aesthetics are also kind of architecture-like, but also very minimal with her floating origami-dresses, made of jaconas - a transparent cotton cloth.

- Special mention to Émilie Meldem (Switzerland, women collection).

Emilie Melden obtained a Masters degree at the French Institute for Fashion (IFM, Paris), then entered Viktor & Rolf before being selected for Hyères. She presented a collection with extreme volumes, playing with proportions, leather structures and reinvented materials (twigs shells). <sld(emiliemelden)|right>

For your information : On July 13th and 14th 2011, the Première Vision Preview New York tradeshow is going to present a design by each of the 10 finalists. Invited in NYC, the winner Céline Méteil will exhibit part of her work, just like she will at the Première Vision Paris tradeshow, from September the 20th to the 22nd 2011.
