QATAR / Doha: The Christie's world president, Edward Dolman, goes to Qatar

At 51 years old, Edward Dolman gives up his post at the famous auction house to become the authority of museums of Qatar.

Starting in September 2011, as general manager, he will work with Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the daughter of the emir of Qatar, who is a great collector of Islamic and contemporary art. Edward Dolman will be in charge of cultural promotion, the national collections' preservation and will supervise new acquisitions.

The authority of the museums of Qatar, after the inauguration of the museum of Islamic art in 2008 and of the Mathaf Museum (Arabic museum of modern art) in 2009, plans to reopen the national museum of Qatar in 2014. The latter has been designed by French architect, Jean Nouvel.
