Fashion Week

London Fashion Week ran from Friday 16th September until Wednesday 21st September 2011. Here is a glance back at those 6 days of non-stop creativity.

<sld(lfw1)|left>Festivities began with brands such as Bora Aksu, Jean-Pierre Braganza and Ann Sofie Back Atelje/BACK all showcasing at the BFC Show Space. Christopher Raeburn staged an installation with LED screens, enabling him to display the clothes in an interactive setting at the Museum of London.

<sld(lfw2)|right>Burberry Prorsum, Peter Pilotto, Acne, Jonathan Saunders, Vivienne Westwood Red Label and Marios Schwab were among the brands that put on an exceptional series of shows this season. The selection also included Christopher Kane, Nicole Farhi, Mulberry, and Matthew Williamson, to name but a few in this strong lineup. Designers Remix was back in London as well, after showing in Copenhagen in August.

<sld(menswearlfw)|left>Wednesday 21st September was devoted to men’s collections proving that London is just as important for menswear as for womenswear. Strong names were invited to show, such as Christopher Shannon, J.W.Anderson and MAN.

New talents were simultaneously presenting their collections at the Graduate Showcase at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, while catwalk shows were held as part of the Ones To Watch showcase. At the latter, Alice Lee, Malene Oddershede Bach and Phoebe English presented their collections for Spring Summer 2012, while Anna Smit, Patrick Lim, Steven Tai and Umeromaan took part in the Graduate Showcase, which was held at the Freemasons' Hall.

<sld(lfw3)|right>The Exhibition at Somerset House was in full swing this season, showcasing the most important designers of the London scene. Attracting attention at the Exhibition were Fannie Schiavoni, Craig Lawrence, Dominic Jones and Mary Katranzou. 18 London designers presented their collections at the Estethica stand, sponsored by Monsoon, while the guests mingled over apéritifs as they networked with the exhibitors. The aim of the event was to present collections and thus emphasise designers that respect Estethica’s principles of fair trade and ethical practice in the production process.

This season, Modem is proud to present the Map of London, together with the British Fashion Council. The maps were distributed at Somerset House, available for buyers, press and fashion professionals alike, facilitating their London Fashion Week experience. The map listed a selection of official events and indicated the locations of multi-label and designer showrooms along with the capital's multi-brand stores.
