BAAM – Argentina Fashion Week is the official Fashion Week in Argentina. It takes place twice a year: in late March and in early September. BAAM showcases the collections of local and internationally recognized designers as special guests.

The 39th edition took place from August 26 to September 3 at the Buenos Aires Sheraton Hotel, Salon Isidro. The event encompassed conferences, panel discussions and workshops regarding the latest trends. In order to promote Argentine designers, twice a year the organizers of the event select designers with potential for international markets and hold fashion shows with these latter in cities such as Paris, London, Moscow, Asuncion, Miami, Ecuador and Rio de Janeiro. This international move contributes to the industrial and economical growth of the country and also fosters Latin America’s cultural image.
This season “Argentine Designers” are presenting their latest collection during Paris Fashion Week. The event features Emprendedores de Nuestra Tierra – a supporting project for artisans hosted by the Argentine Social Development Minister, Dario Arbina, Carlo Di Domenico, Maria Gorof and Jorge Ibanez.

-Dario Arbina started studying apparel and textile design and changed to the University of Fine Arts where he discovered painting. With this know-how, he gained his first work experience of Haute Couture at “Chez Rita”, opened his own studio and finally showcased for the first time a collection on a catwalk. During BAAM 39, Dario started his fashion show with a video screening of actress and model Emilia Athias who then also walked the catwalk.

-Marcelo Senra was designated in 1999 by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires to represent the country in the Carrousel of the Louvres in Paris. The same year, the second prize "Designer 2000" was granted to him. Marcelo Senra is a designer who represents the quintessential of Argentine culture: he combines a mix of textures and colors with a cosmopolitan approach and also develops his own fabrics. During BAAM 39, he offers a natural and elegant women collection.

-Carlo Di Domenico has started to work in fashion industry more than 30 years ago. He always made collections with a luxury approach. Carlo Di Domenico is a designer who loves to empower women through glamorous creations. He is one of the favorites of Argentine stars, renown for his spectacular night dresses and red carpet collection.

-Catalina Rateunberg is an ex-model and actress who decided to start her fashion brand few years ago. Her personality and her vintage design have seduced the Project Runway jury where she became a finalist. She realizes all her collections from old clothes to create unique timeless pieces. During BAAM 39 she presented a collection with embroidered and transparent dresses, which create sleek and volatile silhouettes.

Since 2000, the competition “Yo el Joven Creador de Moda” founded in 1993 by Héctor Vidal Rivas, is part of the BAAM Argentina Fashion Week and it aims to reward young and emerging talents.
