MODEM introduces to this year’s three winners of the Who Is On Next? competition, a young designer runway show event organized by AltaRoma, in collaboration with Vogue Italia, which has made a name for itself by discovering and promoting up-and-coming fashion designers since 2005.

Piccione•Piccione
Of Sicilian origin, fashion designer Salvatore Piccione graduated from the IED in Rome, in 2008. After gaining a considerable work experience at Mary Katrantzou, he oversaw special projects with Swarovski, Topshop, Pablo Bronstein, and Longchamp, and is currently collaborating with British womenswear brand Hobbs and Céline. His creative take on womenswear, his attention to feminine detailing, and his love for bold embroideries and prints resulted in the creation of his eponymous brand,Piccione•Piccione. Flowers, jewellery, kaleidoscopic fragments and natural, architectural elements are transformed into intricate worlds, within which everything is highly evocative and dreamy. Handmade embroidery and decorations add the finishing touch to his garments, creating a magical aura.

Daizy Shely
Born in Israel, ex-aequo Who Is On Next? winner, Aliza Shalali Deizy, grew up in a small village near Tel Aviv. In 2011, after completing her studies at Istituto Marangoni, she decided to create her own womenswear brand: Daizy Shely. Her collections are designed for confident, informed women who “have something to say”. Each single piece is a combination of high-quality manufacturing, luxe materials and a meticulous attention to details. The result is a line of clothing that focuses on the choice of materials and perfect tailoring, in a harmonious blend of femininity and determination. In October 2013, she opened her atelier in Milan; a city that she has now decided to call home.

Corion
It was thanks to her grandfather, tailor to the king of Serbia, that bag designer Milica Stankovic found her very own niche in the fashion world. After relocating with her family from Serbia to Australia, she decided to cross the ocean and fulfill her dream of living in Paris. Following two important internships, first at Jean Paul Gaultier and then at Jean Claude Jitrois, she launched her line of bags named Corion. The bags draw inspiration from traditional craftsmanship and artisans, who lovingly cut, weave and stitch each single piece of leather by hand.
