Duncan Campbell is the winner of the 30th Turner Prize. The Dublin-born video-artist received the award (£25,000) award for It for Others, an “essay film” that refers to IRA martyrdom, Marxist theory and African art. The jury described it as "an ambitious and complex film which rewards repeated viewing". The other shortlisted artists were: Ciara Phillips, James Richards and Tris Vonna-Michell - their work is currently on display at Tate Britain until January 4th, 2015. The first Turner Prize was awarded to the painter Malcom Morley in 1984, and is now considered as one of the most prestigious awards for visual arts.
