The Florence-based fashion fair Pitti Immagine revealed an exciting program of events that will take place during the upcoming edition of Pitti Uomo 87 and Pitti W, from January 13th to 16th, at the Fortezza da Basso.

Faithful to its pioneering approach, the Italian trade-show will yet again promote up-and-coming designers with special initiatives, such as an event named Latest Fashion Buzz. The project, developed in collaboration with L’Uomo Vogue, GQ Italia and Lagente, aims to put a spotlight on some of the most promising men’s fashion designers, by showcasing their products in a special section, within the fair’s Central Pavilion. The brands featured this year are Antipitagora, Document, Inbar Levi, Mobi, Post-Imperial, Rombaut, and Vittorio Branchizio.

In addition, Pitti Immagine aims to overcome geographical barriers with two creative initiatives called #SWEDISHSPOT2015 and Born in the USA by Liberty Fair. Promoted by Business Sweden, #SWEDISHSPOT2015 will showcase a collective of Swedish designers on the first floor of the Quinte Teatro, while Born in the USA by Liberty Fair will present a selection of edgy American brands. Furthermore, a special event called Fashion In Evolution. A Turkish Leather Story will celebrate the power and creativity of the Turkish fashion industry, with a particular focus on leather items. Pitti will also introduce to Unconventional, the fair’s brand-new section dedicated to underground luxury, which will feature 20 international fashion brands – from Canada to Turkey, over to Russia and Japan – with a wide-ranging proposal that includes accessories, clothing, jewelry, fragrances and footwear. Finally, after much toing and froing, Guest Nation Russia, a project which aimed to promote Russian fashion designers, was cancelled due to the current political and financial issues.

Last but not least, the New York-based luxury label Hood by Air will hold a special presentation on Wednesday, January 14th as Pitti’s Special Guest, while on Thursday 15th, Olivier Saillard, the Director of Palais Galliera, and the actress Tilda Swinton will stage their latest performance entitled Cloakroom, within the Fondazione Pitti Discovery Program.
