Inspired by the recent history of the site which was a networks of abandoned tunnels and vaults, and the proximity of Mount Vesuvius, the project of Amanda Levete and Anish Kapoor truly looks like a sculptural and monumental gateway to the underworld.

Somewhere between science fiction and prehistorical forms, this mysterious and voluptuous mouth made of Corten Steel stands as the perfect encounter between Art & Function.
Anish Kapoor defines the concept of this project as the will to create a balance between art and architecture, by realising a work of art which as also a function.

Amanda Levete is famous for her space age buildings and furniture design for Established and Sons signed in collaboration with Jan Kaplicky from Future Systems'studio.

The office's portfolio includes the redevelopment of media giant News Corporation's headquarters in east London to create a campus for its UK operations housing The Times, Sunday Times, News of the World and The Sun newspapers, Dow Jones, Harper Collins, MySpace and 20th Century Fox.

Anish Kapoor is one of the most prominent figure on the global contemporary art scene today. This artist who defines is work as ? a fight, an unstoppable battle” is known for his monumental curved forms, appealing surfaces, which engage the viewer with their mysterious simplicity and beauty.

His work has been exhibited in major museums and places all over the world such as Tate Modern in London, Rockefeller Center and MoMA in New York and Guggenheim in Bilbao...
