The Fashion Business Human Resources Development Executive Committee announced the winner of TOKYO NEW DESIGNERS FASHION GRAND PRIX 2018 - Amateur Category - on the 17th of October. Rio Ito won the grand prix among nominated designers. She was rewarded 1 million yen and a return ticket to Paris. In addition, Kanae Ito, Sheng Tsai, Daisuke Oguchi, Miyuki Kanamo, Wakana Hayashi and Hsiang-Lin Kuo were also announced as winners of award for this year.

The Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix is divided into two categories such as " Amateur" and "Professional". The Amateur Category is one of the world's largest fashion awards for students. Many winners have gone on to become professional designers who have their own brands and are now active in the global fashion industry. A catwalk show and an award ceremony is held as the Amazon Fashion Week TOKYO related event in October. Further, the Professional Category, introduced in 2011, discovers designers who are active around the world and supports their business.
