Many great menswear designers come from America but this year’s men’s fashion week seems quite light… Just 18 of them showed their collections with only[red] Alexander Wang [/red]standing out as the most famous one.

In contrast, London, Milan and Paris have many famous names and new menswear designers in their calendars… counting about 50 shows for each.

Globally, menswear is soaring and according to Reuters, men's lines will outperform women’s… but where are the American designers?

Some very promising designers like [red]Heron Preston[/red], leave the United States to set their show in Paris - in order to show the same week among other big names such as Virgile Abloh, Hedi Slimane and Kim Jones

The rising of men’s fashion is due to the streetwear phenomenon which follows a different model: men’s brands show their new collections according to new calendars which don't follow the conventional fashion week calendar. Because of the lack of a regular scheme, it will be really hard for NYMFW to get its prestige back.
