A tribute to Russia in France

The Cultural and artistic celebration for the 2010 France-Russia year find their culmination in June.


The visit of Vladimir Putin, on June 11th, and the Russia Day Celebration on June 12th will be the highlights of the celebrations for the France-Russia 2010 year. Several cultural and artistic events will be organized during both days. Three major events will promote the Russia in France:

The Grand Palais in Russia's national colours

From June 11th to June 15th, the Grand Palais Nave will showcase the latest progress made in Russia in the fields of industry, science and technologies. The Grand Palais will also honour the Russian culture with the Photographic History of Russia presented by both Russian Academy of Fine Arts and Moscow House of Photography. The exhibition will cover the period from late 19th century to nowadays. Plus, every day, the Ice Ballet of St. Petersburg will perform the greatest Russian classics on a rink in set under the nave.

A History lesson at the Palais de Tokyo

The mezzanine floor of the Palais de Tokyo will host from June 12th to June 27th the first part of the exhibition History Lesson (the second part is scheduled for February 2011 in Moscow. Joseph Backstein, the curator of the exhibition will showcase the artworks of thirty contemporary Russian artists, including Andrei Molodkin, Sergei Chekhovstov and AES + F. The exhibition proposes, through the Russian Art, a reflection on Russian history, for a deeper understanding and interpretation of events and nostalgia.

Dancing and Music at the Champs de Mars

On the Russia Day, on June 12th, a great gala concert is organized, with the participation of the famous musician Vladimir Spivakov, which will conduct the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Till June 20th, the festival "Constellation de Russie" where several national ensembles from different regions will perform, including the National Academic Piatnitski Choir and the Vainakh State Dance Ensemble.
