Paperwork and the Will of Capital

The exhibition presents her latest series, in which she examines floral centerpieces from major international conferences. Treating the flowers as silent witnesses of historical moments, she re-photographs them as protagonists, and through them narrates the tale of international power relations, manipulations and broken promises.

Shunga (spring pictures) have long been prevalent in East Asia and bear witness to an attitude towards sex and eroticism that differs from that in Europe. All of the great Japanese ukiyo-e artists created erotic images, which— though banned by the government— were sold privately and unsigned, and accounted for over 30 percent of the market.
