The art of Gabriel Klasmer, born in Jerusalem and living in London, includes painting, sculpture, installation and video.
Since the early 1990s, his paintings are executed with his own invented "low-tech" painting machines, operated by simple, strictly regulated mechanical principles.
In such mediated automated paintings, based on a primitive and archaic mechanism, the result is abstract, clean and perfectly formal, holding a (vain) promise for a future world of technological perfection, control and cleanliness.
