Beginning with the exaggerated realism and deep social concern of early works depicting meat and hospital scenes, the exhibition moves to a major section dedicated to portraiture, including his signature “Mask” series.

It continues with a presentation of monumental and brightly colored landscapes he has created since 2004, using the formal device of the “messy stroke” (luanbi), and finishes with a room dedicated to a new series of works on paper, in development since 2009, which open a dialogue between Eastern and Western painterly traditions with a distinctly contemporary sensibility, presented complete for the first time.
