Kiki van Eijk presents Free Form, a series of ceramic LED lamps modeled on the repetition of natural forms and their coexistence with humanity. With Space Poetry, Kiki examines the relationship between space and architecture, translating it into a series of unique pieces that subtly suggest their own physicality and function.

Joost van Bleiswijk presents Curved and Taped, sculptural forms that focus on the expressive gesture, distancing them from functionality, while hisInterlocking Panels are imaginary objects with interconnected minimalist forms. In Connect, their works are intertwined, pushing past the boundaries of architecture, art and design, and demonstrating that incredible things can happen when we allow ourselves the opportunity to share and collaborate.

RO PLASTIC-MASTER’S PIECES calling artists to reuse and reinvent plastic waste.

During the Milan Design Week 2019 gallerist Rossana Orlandi will award the winners of the Ro Plastic Prize, a prize she established in the footsteps of the previous Guiltless Plastic, to encourage a more conscious use of the material. Open to everybody without age limits, the prize is divided into four categories: Home Textiles, Packaging Solutions, Design and Conscious Innovation Projects.

Parallel to the contest event, Rossana Orlandi is presenting an exposition of unique pieces made from recycled plastic. Called “Ro Plastic-Master’s Pieces”.

“I have received over 300 entries from all corners of the world – Turkey, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Canada and China, besides Europe. It’s a nice surprise. I think we need to stop thinking of climate change as a problem of the future. We need to solve it in the present. We have taken up arms to fight a creative, generational battle. Plastic in itself is not to blame; it can become a resource full of possibilities and potential. The real problem is wrong usage. With this contest, I’d like to stimulate and incentivise young people, but not only them, to concentrate on the immense possibilities of recycled plastic. It is an invitation to study, really study, and apply yourself. We want to instigate a return to Nature.”

THE LITTA VARIATIONS - OPUS 5
See on Map
April 09 2019 -> April 14 2019

Moving on through the Piano Nobile, The Litta Variations / Opus 5 presents the collections of Mason Editions, Kober, Arcade and Ecole Camondo.

Mason Editions enters Palazzo Litta to present its latest range of lighting, furnishings and accessories in a new selection of finishes. The collection stands out for the versatility of the objects, the unique combination of materials used and the exquisite craftsmanship. For Palazzo Litta, the artistic director of Mason Editions, Matteo Fiorini, has designed an installation with rigorous, minimal volumes, where each single object takes the centre of its own dedicated stage. The works designed by Martina Bartoli, Serena Confalonieri and Matteo Fiorini are here shown in all their glory and dialogue with the sumptuous surroundings of the palazzo’s interior.

German company Kober has been producing technical porcelain for over 100 years. Here, in collaboration with Olivari, the well-known Italian producer of door handles, Kober presents its range of production possibilities. The exhibition shows the work of 11 German design studiosthat were invited to invent new door handle concepts using porcelain. The participating studios are Sarah & Henrik Böttger, Studio Mark Braun, Uli Budde, Studio Kai Linke, Laura Jungmann, Design Studio Niruk, Studio Jonathan Radetz, Talbot & Mauloubier, Thomas Schnur, Studio Martha Schwindling, KOBER / Beate Wich-Reif. The exhibition also gives an overview of the range of production methods offered by this technical ceramics factory that focuses on surface and a variety of dimensions.

Moving on we come to Imprints, the exhibition of Murano glass objects designed for Arcade by Ivan Baj and Marcello Panza. The title of the show refers to the creation process behind each piece and represents the perfect equilibrium between the designers’ imagination and the artisan’s skill when they bring each concept to life in the glassworks. Each of the works is displayed on a plinth, the simplicity of which highlights the different approaches and creative journeys of each designer.

Ecole Camondo transforms the usually undefined space of the Copper Room into a set in action, positioned between the Main Courtyard and the garden. Teatro del giorno. 6 days, 6 settings change for scenarios is a theatre complete with stage and scenery in which a permanent mutation of the space created by the students takes place under the direction of Mathilde Bretillot. This exhibition is produced in partnership with TIPTOE, a contemporary furniture brand, and with the support of Elitis, Cosentino and Adm.

The focus in the Main Courtyard is on the work of Pezo von Ellrichshausen.
The studio founded in 2002 by Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen present Echo, a mysterious structure that merges interior with exterior..

TRIENNALE MILANO - BROKEN NATURE: DESIGN TAKES ON HUMAN SURVIVAL
See on Map
March 01 2019 -> September 01 2019
*
The XXIITriennale di Milano, Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival runs until September 1, 2019. Curated by Paola Antonelli ,Senior Curator of Architecture & Design, Director of Research & Development at The Museum of Modem Art in New York. Broken Nature is an in-depth exploration of the strandslhat connect humans to the natural environment that have been intensely compromised, if not enlirely severed, overthe years.

By casting awide net on architecture and design projects, the exhibition underlines the concept of restorative design, highlighting objects and concepts at all scales that reconsider human beings' relationship with their environmenls-including both naturaland social ecosystems.

The thematic exhibition consists of four works specially commissloned from international designers.The commissioned works have been entrusted to Formafantasma (Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin); to Neri Oxman and her research group, the Medlated Matter Group of MIT Media Lab; to Sigll (Khaled Malas, Salim Al-Kadi, Alfred Tarazi, and Jana Traboulsi), a collective based in Beirut and New York; and to Accurat, a data-driven research, design, and innovation studio based in Milan and New York (project led by Giorgia Lupland Gabriele Rossi.)

ln addition to the commissioned works, the thematic exhibition comprises a selection of circa 100 projects from the last three decades, examples of restorative design, architecture, and art from all overthe world. Among them, Broken Nature includes new installations and objects-like Paola Bay and Armando Bruno's Reliquaries, Dominique Chen's Nuka-doko, and Gocgle Brain's Whale Song-and milestones such as Pettie Petzer and Johan Jonker's Hippo Roller.
Elemental's Quinta Monroy housing, Martino Gamper's 100 Chairs in 100 Days, and Zach Lieberman et al.'s Eyewriter, a low-cost, open source eye-tracking system. By placing these different projects in the same space and within the same conversation, the exhibition aims to unearth design's potential to mediate societaland behavioral changes.

The thematic exhibition features The Great Animal Orchestra, an installation commissioned by the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in Paris and created by the musician and bio-acoustics expert Bernie Krause and by the English studio United VisualArtists (UVA) on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name in 2016. The Great Animal Orchestra immerses visitors into the sounds of nature, offering a visual and acoustic renection on the need to preserve the beauty of the animal kingdom.

Moreover, with an exhibition entitled Milano 2030, a pavilion for the city of Milan is inaugurating the new Urban Center headquartered al the Palazzo dell'Arte.

Broken Nature, the XXII Triennale di Milano includes the special exhibition, The Nation of Plants, curated by the plant neurobiologist Stefano Mancuso, and exploring new ways to look at plants not only in terms of resources, but aise for their potential to teach humans to avoid future catastrophes.

La Triennale di Milano is aise pleased to announce, as part of Broken Nature, the inaugural Bee Awards, which will be granted by an international jury. Three projects among the international participations to the XXII Triennale will be selected on the basis of the poignancy of their interpretatlon of the theme, and the quality and relevance of the ideas they put forward. The three trophies - Golden, Black,and Wax Bee - have been realized by three ltalian artists-Chiara Vigo, Oli Bonzanigo, and Bona Calvi. The recipients of the BeeAwards will be announced at the official opening ceremony of the exhibition.

For Milano Design Week 2019, from 9 to 14 April, Roger Vivier celebrates creativity and passion for design with a special installation that will be on display at the Biffi Boutiques window on Corso Genova.

Taking inspiration from one of his most innovative creations for the Spring/Summer 2019 collection, the Viv’ Run sneakers, Roger Vivier’s Creative Director Gherardo Felloni designed an overlapping backdrop that mimics the unique mesh pattern found on the Viv’ Run’s sole. Infused with the same dynamism as the shoes it takes inspiration from, the installation shows energy in movement, mixed with a refined design aesthetic.
A balance of form and function, one of the pillars of Roger Vivier that is exemplified by the Viv’ Run. Exclusively for Biffi Boutiques, and in occasion of Salone del Mobile, Roger Vivier presents the limited-edition Viv’ Run sneakers in vibrant orange and pink – a distinct colour combination made especially for this collaboration. Beyond design. Questioning Design for human survival

The five projects presented, including one from the ENSADlab research laboratory, are the result of multi-disciplinary cross-fertilisation, sensitive research, perspective and transversal, capable of questioning the future of contemporary society and putting forward sustainable, tangible and negotiable proposals. These are projects of a heterogeneous nature, projections, speculative gestures or technologically sophisticated proposals that can already be implemented now.
This new ecology of practices common to the five projects implies the reinvention of the processes of production, design and interaction with our tangible and intangible world through an in-depth exploration of research contexts rarely proposed in the field of design.
