58 Modem Women’s Milano Modem Women’s Paris Spring-Summer 2009 Covers by JEAN NOUVEL 2008 The French architect Jean Nouvel is the winner of the prestigious Prize at 2008 , a distinction which crowns his career after already winning twice L’Équerre d’Argent, Le Grand Prix National d’Architecture, the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale, the Praemium Imperiale, ... Born in 1945, assistant to Claude Parent and Paul Virilio from 1967 to 1970, the artist who first wanted to be a painter graduated from the Beaux Arts in 1972. In 1976 he co-founded the French Architectural Movement “March 1976” , the following year, the Architecture Syndicat, and then he helped to organize the international competition for Les Halles neighbourhood in Paris. In 1981 he was chosen within Architecture-Studio for the realization of the first of the major works of Président François Mitterrand : Institute of the Arab World. With each project, he invented a new architecture. At each building he created a new spirit such as façade of Moucharabiehs the IMA, Glass walls of the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art, Reflective mirrors of the Culture and Convention Center in Lucerne.
