Le Méridien Barcelona is transformed into a place of interactive experiences

The acclaimed Catalan artist Joan Fontcuberta joins LM100, Le Méridien’s group of creatives, and Le Méridien Barcelona announces its ‘Unlock Art’ partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona (MacBa).

Former co-founder of the Palais de Tokyo (with Nicolas Bourriaud) and director of UCCA (Ullens Centre of Contemporary Art), Peking, Jérôme Sans has also been the artistic director of the Le Méridien brand since April 2007. To create a family of creatives united under the name LM100, Jérôme Sans is inspired by the concept that it is necessary to create experiences at the heart of the hotel, notably that of arrival.

The concept ‘of Arrival’ presents itself in a number of steps: the transitional portal, produced by an artist, a work of art in giant format on the entrance to the hotel (Younès Rahmoun at Le Méridien, Ra; Joan Fontcuberta at Le Méridien, Barcelona; Ralph Gibson at Le Méridien, Monaco…); a designer sound produced by Henri Scars-Struck and an olfactive creation conceived by Le Labo; the magnetic key cards for the rooms customized by artists (Michael Lin, Sam Samore or Hisham Baroocha), which allow priority and free entry to atypical places (partners include Le Musée National de Monaco, the vineyards of Juan Leon and Miguel Torres at Ra, MACBA at Barcelona etc…) in each city where Le Méridien is found.

“Le Méridien’s aim is to become the chosen destination for creative travelers by offering them new perspectives on art, architecture, fashion and gastronomy at the hotel.”
