Originally built in 1984, the work had been dismantled for the needs of changing neighborhood. With the relocation of Clara-Clara in the Tuileries and the success of Monumenta at the Grand Palais, the EPAD continuing this momentum.

Under the leadership of its president Patrick Devedjian, the EPAD intends to pursue the vocation of Defense as exceptional. Among several locations, Richard Serra chose the crossroads of La Folie at the foot of the Grande Arche. Made up of five steel plates nearly twenty tons each and a height of eleven meters, the work is like a gigantic house of cards.

From the outside, are visible only four plates and is entering the sculpture that we discover the fifth space separating into two unequal parts. The artist has designed his work taking into account the viewer, who must travel around the minimalist sculpture but can not understand in its entirety, focusing on the production process and dialogue between the work and its environment.

The relocation of Slat enriches the museum of contemporary art outdoor developed by the EPAD since the 70s, with over sixty works including on account of Calder, Miro or Caesar.
