The Museum Brandhorst will be inaugurated by the Bavarian Prime Minister, Horst Seehofer, with a state ceremony officiated on 18 May 2009.

The Museum Brandhorst, designed by Berlin based Sauerbruch Hutton architects, represents a spectacular new expansion of the ‘Kunstareal’ Munich, which inlcudes the Alte and Neue Pinakothek and the Pinakothek der Moderne. At present the collection comprises more than 700 works of art. Work complexes by selected artists of the 20th and 21st centuries lend the collection its unique character.

The press conference will be held on 18 May 2009 at 11 am at the Museum Brandhorst.
On 21 May 2009, the Museum Brandhorst will open its doors to the public. Through Sunday 24 May the museum may be visited free of charge from 10 am until 10 pm.
