The 24th edition of the Hyeres Festival of Fashion and Photography opens on Friday the 24th of April 2009. Dedicated to emerging artists in the fields of fashion and photography, the festival has revealed itself over the years to be THE platform for young talent in these two particular disciplnees. In addition to the competitions, which under the guidance of their prestigious juries take the form of a catwalk show and a collective exhibition, this year's festival is also dedicated to three leading names in the contemporary arts, Steven Meisel, Kris Van Assche and Peter Knapp.
Focusing on promotion unseen and innovative perspectives in fashion and photography, this year's competitions have received almost 400 portfolios for the fashion category, and more than 600 for the photography category. The 10 designers and 10 photographers on display this year will meet the festival judges, fellow professionals and members of the public over three days, surrounded by their exhibited works.
