The Hong Kong–born artist Paul Chan is the winner of the 2014 edition of theHugo Boss Prize. The artist has been awarded last week with a ceremony held at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. He was chosen from a shortlist that also included renowned international artists Sheela Gowda, Camille Henrot, Hassan Khan, and Charline von Heyl. The jury praised Chan’s eclectic body of work, which includes light projections and typographies. Nancy Spector, chair of the jury, stated in an official release that “Paul’s protean ability to work across multiple platforms from his videos to his more elegiac light pieces and community-based performances is what particularly stood out.”

The Guggenheim Museum will host a solo-exhibition dedicated to Paul Chang in Spring 2015.
