New York City Economic Development Corp, through its Industrial Modernization Initiative, revealed plans to invest USD 3.5 million in a new fashion epicenter located in Brooklyn, and called the Manufacturing Innovation Hub for Apparel, Textiles & Wearable Tech. This structure will support local manufacturing, and thus create new job opportunities for up-and-coming designers. The creation of the Manufacturing Innovation Hub, is set to begin in late February, and is meant to highlight the city's commitment to the development of its local fashion industry. In this context, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced the launch of a New York Men’s Fashion Week. As reported by WWD, the Council is currently looking for a title sponsor. If plans progress, the first showcase will take place in mid-July, 2015, at the same time as the fashion trade-shows Project, Liberty, MRket, and Capsule.
