Starting 2016, the Centre Pompidou will allow the four finalists of the internationally reputed Marcel Duchamp Prize to present their artworks for a period of 3 months on a 650 m2 exhibition space.

"It is with great satisfaction, but also with great emotion, that I look at this new stage of our price," stated Gilles Fuchs, President of the ADIAF. "This is a major turning point for the Marcel Duchamp Prize, a new dimension. The nominated artists will have to face a great challenge!" Previously, the Centre Pompidou only invited the awarded finalist to set up a solo-exhibition in the so-called ‘Espace 315’ exhibition space, while the FIAC exhibited the artworks of the 4 competing artists prior to the award nomination.

The Marcel Duchamp Prize has been awarded to emerging contemporary artists since its inception in 2000 by the ADIAF. The winner is chosen each year among 4 emerging contemporary artists based in France, and invited to hold a solo-exhibition at theCentre Pompidou. Last year’s award was given to Julien Prévieux, a 40-year-old artist from Grenoble, who exhibited a video entitled What Shall We Do Next?, (2007-2014).
