UNITED STATES / New York: The CFDA Unveils the Nominees of the CFDA Fashion Awards

The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced the nominees for the 2015 edition of the CFDA Fashion Awards.

The annual event recognizes the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related fields, with awards being given for design excellence in womenswear, menswear, and accessories, as well as extraordinary accomplishments in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement. The 2015 edition of CFDA Fashion Award will take place in collaboration with Swarovski on June 1st, 2015, at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.

Competing for the Womenswear Designer of the Year are Joseph Altuzarra for Altuzarra, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, and
Mary-Kate Olsen & Ashley Olsen, for The Row.

In addition, Thom Browne, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone, Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow of Public School, as well as Tim Coppens and Tom Ford will face off for the Menswear Designer of the Year Award.

And for Accessory Designer of the Year, the nominees are Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, The Row, Tabitha Simmons and Irene Neuwirth.

The Swarovski Awards, given in the same three categories will bring some new names into the competition, such as Ryan Roche, for womenswear, Orley and Ovadia & Sons for menswear,as well as Paul Andrew, Eva Fehren and Mansur Gavriel.

Finally, Valentino's Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli will receive the International Award. The American musician and entertainer Pharrell Williams has been announced as the winner of the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for his experimental take on classic menswear.
