Her last fashion show.....

Because it was one... It was just that she hadn't asked for the wallpaper of her room at the American Hospital to be changed....

Her nails were perfectly done, her hair was impeccably styled and she left with a final gentle message on her lips.

Without pain, nor suffering, nor anguish, she was gone in a flash, to the paradise of the greatest pillars... the pillars of fashion but also to those of Life itself..

Because Maria Luisa was unique ... A real personality, and a great one... She was an exceptional woman, and made no concessions. She was "true to herself" as she always insisted, one who dared, who opposed, who defended her convictions tooth and nail... with a perfect balance of elegance and humor. A truly incredible woman who loved passionately, and who contributed immensely to the world of fashion with her big heart as much as she did with her immense talent.

She wouldn't like us to grieve or to feel heavy hearted. Let us carry her in our hearts the way she would have wanted us to : happy, bursting with energy, cheerful and passionate about life.

Daniel Poumaillou

Maria Luisa Poumaillou created Maria Luisa with her husband Daniel Poumaillou in 1988. She was only 7 years old, when her parents — political refugees from Venezuela — settled in Paris. Later on, she enrolled in ‘Science Po’, earned a literature degree in Madrid and traveled the world. In 1988, she opened her fist store on rue Cambon in Paris, with no previous experience in fashion retail, but her strong intuition allowed her to place her first successful buying orders. With her natural ability to help and advise customers, the store soon became an essential hot spot of the Parisian and the international fashion scene. In this sense, Maria Luisa was a passionate advocate of the things she believed in — a leading figure of the fashion industry, reputed for her sharp and sophisticated taste, as well as for her willingness to take risks, and for her eagerness to learn.
