On April 19th, Style.com/Arabia, together with the Dubai Design & Fashion Council (DDFC) and Farfetch.com, launched the Style.com/Arabia – DDFC Fashion Prize, an annual endowment granted to the most promising design talents from the Arab world.

According to an official release, the prize will provide "a global platform for emerging Middle Eastern designers to showcase their abilities while establishing the quality control, standards, mentorship, and broader visibility the nascent industry needs". In addition, this new prize for up-and-coming designers from the Arab world aims to facilitate the Middle East’s ongoing transition from a consumer market to an active exporter of fashion.

In this context, the Style.com/Arabia – DDFC Fashion Prize will award a winning designer with a package representing over US $250,000 in value. The package includes a financial grant, the production costs of a capsule collection that will be for sale on Farfetch.com, a year of mentoring support from a collection of highly esteemed mentors, as well as media/press coverage, and an advertising campaign.

"We invite all designers based in the Arab world to submit their profiles and participate in what promises to be a thrilling experience," said Sofia Guellaty, Style.com/Arabia’s Editor-in-Chief, in an official release.

The inaugural winner of the Style.com/Arabia – DDFC Fashion Prize will be announced this Fall. The preliminary application deadline is set on May 15th and the formal application deadline on May 24th, 2015.
