The reflexion on ecology of the Swiss producer of furniture Vitra dates from 1986, with the creation of its task group "Vitra and the environnement". The corporation claims, today more than ever, a strong ecological involvement, which is materialized through importants measures like : the use of clean and recyclable materials, the reduction to the minimum of the packing materials and their reuse. Vitra also achieve in 2009 the building in Germany, in Neuenburg, of a factory designed by Antonio Citterio, according to highly ecological norms, and produces the first desk seat to received the prestigious german eco-label Blue Angel, the MedaPal seat by Alberto Meda.
