The Italian online retailer YOOX Group has released a short {{documentary entitled The Artist Is Absent: A Short Film On Martin Margiela.

Announced by a teaser trailer a few days ago, the documentary directed by the New York-based filmmaker Alison Chernick was originally screened at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival. The short traces the history of the celebrated designer through his active years, from the 1990’s on, and shows his face for the very first time — Martin Margiela is reputed for avoiding the limelight and any kind of public appearances. The video features a range of exclusive contribution from various fashion industry insiders, including Raf Simons, Jean Paul Gaultier, Suzy Menkesand Belgian entrepreneur Geert Bruloot, who was the first person to discover and promote Margiela’s work.
