Donna Karan will step down from her daily responsibilities as Chief Designer at Donna Karan International to devote greater time to her Urban Zen Company and Foundation. Ms. Karan will remain a close advisor of DKI.

“I have arrived at a point in my life where I need to spend more time to pursue my Urban Zen commitment to its fullest potential and follow my vision of philanthropy and commerce with a focus on health care, education and preservation of cultures,’’ stated the designer in an official release. In this context, LVMH’s CEO, Pierre-Yves Roussel, expressed the group’s commitment to fully realize the potential of the company, while staying true to the iconic designer’s spirit and values.

Launched by American designer Donna Karan in 1984, Donna Karan International is one of the world’s leading fashion design houses. The company entered the Bernard Arnault’s LVMH Moët Hennessy Group in 2001. Recently Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, Co-Founders of the award-winning American brandPublic School have been appointed Creative Directors of DNKY, Donna Karan’s younger line.
