[red]Sophia Webster[/red] is London-based shoes designer who has just launched her first handbag collection. Graduated from Royal College of Art, Sophia founded her brand in 2013 after being working for Nicholas Kirkwood, her predecessor in the list of laureates. She is already the recipient of several awards as Drapers Student Footwear Designer of the Year (2009), Browns Shoe Designer Award (2010) and British Fashion Award for Emerging Accessories Designer (2013).

Creativity, colors, femininity and happiness are attributes of Sophia’s fashion. “The brand encapsulates all the originality and creativity that British fashion is known for, while Sophia and her team have pursued a clear vision with drive and professionalism”, said Alexandra Shulman – Vogue editor and the chair of the BFC / Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.

BFC / Vogue designer Fashion Fund is the annual Award established in 2008 by the former BFC charmain Harold Tillman. Supported by Burberry, Harrods, Paul Smith, Topshop and Vogue, the aim of the Fund is to assist young talented designers with the development of their business and with the transition to a global fashion brand. Sophia went head-to-head with Emilia Wickstead, Mother of Pearl, Osman and Prism and is only the second shoe designer winning the award after Nicholas Kirkwood in 2013, her former director. Laureates of previous editions were Mary Katrantzou (2015), Peter Pilotto (2014), Jonathan Saunders (2012), Christopher Kane (2011) and Erdem (2010).
