For over 20 years, [red]Mercedes-Benz[/red] has been involved in fashion-related initiatives worldwide and has decided to strengthen its commitment to young designers with an ambitious program born in France: [red]Les Etoiles – Mercedes-Benz[/red].

Approached by the brand for his talent and his sensitivity to young artists, Alexis Mabille chaired the jury and ensured the consistency of this competition’s artistic vision. 30 designers were invited by Alexis Mabille and Mercedes-Benz to unleash their creativity by imagining three looks that sublimate automotive luxury as embodied by Mercedes-Benz, till 9 of them become finalists. Using anything from materials to symbols, the designers drew their inspiration from the brand’s codes.

On the occasion of the Ready-to-wear session of Paris Fashion Week SS17, all of these creations were revealed to the press at Garage Lübeck on the {{4th of October)). During the evening, the jury proclaimed David Ferreira the winner of Les Étoiles Mercedes-Benz Award, which comes with a cheque of 15,000 euros as well as long-term assistance from Mercedes-Benz.

Native from Portugal, [red]David Ferreira[/red] launched his label when he was only 25 years old. He received distinctions from the jury for his ‘BA in Fashion Design’ degree from the University of Westminster in July 2015. His vision is the symbiosis of tradition and modernity as he uses handicrafts and innovative techniques, David learned by working with designers like Iris Van Herpen, Giles Deacon and Meadham Kirchhoff. It allowed him to develop his approach of fashion: creating highly desirable and unconventional pieces that freed women from their natural form. In 2015, Amanda Harlech and Nick Knight took pictures of one of his masks, which would also be worn by Björk in a thank you video broadcast at the 2016 Brit Awards.
