Last 30th of September, Hussein Chalayan unveiled a featuring with Intel

During the SS17 [red]Chalayan[/red]’s show, the label unveiled its brand new project: a connected accessory line using [red]Intel[/red] technology, including innovative glasses and belts. Created to improve the awareness and the management of stress levels, the accessories offer a different way to gather fashion and technology, in a context where wearable technology has become very trendy.

Equipped with the Intel CurieTM Module, a tiny component with low consumption, the glasses gather biometric datas regarding the wearer, by using sensors that follow cerebral activity, heartbeats and respiration, in order to infer the live stress levels.

During the presentation, the wearer’s biometric datas have been sent to his belt via Bluetooth, thanks to the Intel Compute Stick, a tiny calculating device. As models walked the runway, some visuals projected by their belts showcased their stress levels on the wall beside them.

Hussein Chalayan and Intel have shown five of these accessories studies, which will be presented also at the Design Museum of London this month, as part of the exhibition "Fear and Love: Reactions to a Complex World".

“[grey] Only with technology can you create new things in fashion. Everything else has been done, [/grey]” he has previously said.

The Cypriot-British designer has long experimented the relationship between his garments and the role technology can play. He has introduced looks that changed shape thanks to microchips and animatronics, dresses embedded with 15,000 LEDs to recreate a pixelated screen and even a coffee table that turned into a skirt.
