For the occasion of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, Gabriella Cortese, founder of the brand [red]Antik Batik[/red], dresses celebrities such as Elsa Wolinski, journalist and daughter of the famous cartoonist Georges Wolinski,Laurie Cholewa, the Canal + French television and radio host, Ophelie Bau, an upcoming actress in Abdellatif Kechiche’s Mektoub My Love Intermezzo, selected in the official competition this year.

Every year, Antik Batik is on the « Croisette », in a suite of the prestigious Gré d’Albion Hotel. This year, you’ll find Gabriella’s collection at[red] Shop 17[/red].

We asked Gabriella, one of MODEM’s all-time clients and friends how films have inspired her life and her designs:

« I’ve always been found of cinema. I love the seventh art, I vibrate and I am moved by it. When I draw my models I think of films that have nourished my childhood such as Le Samourai by Melville, in which Alain Delon, who was honored for his career this year, stars in. Italian films from the 60’s also continue to inspire me. Profondo Rosso by Dario Argento and many others too! »

Gabriella also shared her life with the actor Marc Rioufol who died tragically in 2011:

« My husband, was a very good actor. Today he would have played the leading roles and he would be in Cannes. »

Gabriella’s brand has always been worn by many actresses and as she says of her patterns, fabrics and cuts:

«Glitter catches light and voluptuous shapes embrace the silhouette by glorifying it. »

Wether it’s under Ibiza’s burning sun or flashed by ecstatic photographers on the red carpet, her collections always shine bright.
