After the British designer's death last week, Alexander McQueen label will carry on. The announcement was made today by Francois-Henri Pinault, president of the French Luxury group PPR, owner of Gucci Group.

Alexander McQueen's fashion label will go on beyond his death. "This would be the best tribute that we could offer to him" said this morning Francois-Henri Pinault.

His brand, which was bought a majority stake by Gucci in 2001, has 11 boutiques and employs 180 people worldwide.
Less profitable and smaller than some other PPR fashion brands (Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent), McQueen "has a huge potential" said Pinault.
