For its first edition as an annual prize, the Daniel and Florence Guerlain Prize for contemporary drawing has been given at the Salon du Dessin (Hall of Drawing) to the Belgian-born artist Catharina Van Eetvelde.

Catharina Van Eetvelde, 42, lives and works in Paris. Her drawings, characterised by their fine, hard and precise tracing, are shown at Anne Barrault in Paris, Tanit in Munich and at Meert-Rihoux in Bruxelles.

Presided by the Guerlain couple, the jury was composed by international collectors: Gabriele Bierbaum, Anthony Ganz, Stuart Evans, Walter Vanhaerents, Germaine de Liencourt, Jean-Claude Marian and Michel Poitevin.

They have had to chose between the works of Dove Allouche, Thomas Müller and Catharina Van Eetvelde.

The prize winner has received a 15 000 euros donation.
