The first attendance numbers have arrived from Pitti Uomo. About halfway through the show, the data collected until 12pm today shows that foreign buyers have increased by around 4% and that points of sale have increased by 6% compared to January 2023.

The Italian figure, however, "is slightly decreasing, a circumstance expected considering the slowdowns in our domestic market, recorded especially in the last three or four months. A reasonable projection of these percentages on the final result makes us predict that the final figure for the influences of buyers alone (excluding other categories of visitors) should exceed 13 thousand units, with foreigners at around 4,700."

The top twenty countries in order of attendance (people) are: Germany, United Kingdom, Holland, Spain, Turkey, France, Japan, United States, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, China, Greece, South Korea, Portugal, Russia, Canada , Denmark, Poland, Sweden. Of particular note is the constant recovery of the main Asian markets: Continental China and Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and other emerging markets.

"If the men's fashion system had to strike the blow immediately at the start of 2024, the first two, almost three days of Pitti Uomo 105 are sending really positive messages: in the pavilions, among the stands, in the city, at special events, here in Florence we are recording a widespread, great energy," remarks Raffaello Napoleone. "This achievement is also the result of the warm personal interactions established when an international community of interests and culture meet finds in spatial and temporal unity, and together, the desire of all operators to concentrate on the factors considered decisive for success on the markets."

"I am referring to the quality of the collections and the companies' commitment to adding new styles and/or materials each season in tune with new consumer trends; also to the ability of the best retailers and buyers to select orders according to curatorial logics that integrate, without subordinating themselves, with commercial needs, thus giving opportunities and visibility to experimentation, to new generations, to fashion research," adds Napoleone.

"For us, the organizers, he concludes, the work consists in maintaining vital this dynamic balance, inside and outside the Fortezza da Basso, between the exhibition offer and the special projects - and then in proposing an international platform that legitimizes the strength and prestige of Italian fashion. We hope we succeeded once again."
