The Museo del Tessuto Foundation celebrates the designer Walter Albini with a major exhibition curated by Daniela Degl'Innocenti and Enrica Morini.

Walter Albini. The talent, the stylist, is the result of intense study and research conducted by the Museum on the entire professional life of Albini, the absolute protagonist of Italian fashion between the late 1960s and the early 1980s.

The research activity that underlies the exhibition project and the catalog that accompanies it was born following a substantial donation that the Museum received on several occasions between 2014 and 2016: a rich collection of jewellery, sketches, drawings, photographs, documents, books, belonging to Walter Albini, which document the creative and design ability of this extraordinary fashion creator, from his youthful period (1959) until his death (1983).

This archival fund, completely unpublished until now, promptly bears witness to Albini's professional career: his first activity as an illustrator of fashion magazines, his works for Krizia, Baldini and for the brands that paraded in the Sala Bianca in Florence, up to the creation of the own brand and beyond.

The overall recon of the materials included in the Museum's collections has joined the research in other large funds and archives, both public and private, among which the one held by the Communication Study and Archive Center of Parma and the National Chamber Historical Archive of Italian Fashion preserved at Bocconi University. This detailed study has led to an overall rereading of Albini's entire professional career and has outlined a much more precise and in many cases unknown portrait of the designer.
