PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE 1920S AND 1930S FROM THE ANN AND JÜRGEN WILDE FOUNDATION

n modern photography, the portrait is a field for experimentation for an art form that is constantly reflecting (and reflecting on) itself. The artist portrait bears witness to the artist whose image it represents and stages, and simultaneously makes visible a complex web of relationships and personal networks.

The photographs from the 1920s and 1930s in this presentation, all from the holdings of the Ann and Jürgen Wilde Foundation, show Aenne Biermann, Florence Henri, Germaine Krull, Albert Renger-Patzsch, August Sander and Michel Seuphor.
