Bergen Assembly is a perennial model for artistic production and research that is structured around public formats taking place in the city of Bergen every three years. Bergen Assembly’s flexible model is reinvented for each edition, responding in particular to a need for alternative temporalities of art production and experience within an oversaturated information culture, where attention itself is increasingly commodified and subject to pressure.

The Ural Industrial Biennial is the largest international project in the field of contemporary art in the Russian Federation. It works with the industrial specifics of the region and explores industriality as historical heritage and a current practice, which involves many people and spaces.

From 9th of September to 1st of December, using contemporary art as a vehicle, the Biennal will analyzes current changes around the world and integrates the region into the global artistic context.

It was first organized in 2010 at the initiative of the Ural branch of the National Center for Contemporary Art and is held every two years in Ekaterinburg and other Ural region cities. The Ural Biennial actively works with operational factories; the exhibition projects as well as an artist-in-residence program are held on factory sites, which offers artists a unique interaction with industrial manufacturing in the Ural region. Works created by artists during their stay at the Ural factories are shown at the final exhibition of the artist-in-residence program.

A HIGH POINT IN THE INTERNATIONAL ART CALENDAR, THE LYON CONTEMPORARY ART BIENNALE IS GAINING FRESH IMPETUS IN 2019.

Thanks to the exceptional Fagor Factory site being made available – a complex of more than 29,000 sqm in central Lyon – the 15th edition is unprecedented in scale. This huge disused facility, together with all the macLYON space and interventions throughout greater Lyon and in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, make up an outsized field of experimentation that is ripe for the artists’ taking and giving the event a new dimension.

Respectively, the Fair is a selection of contemporary artists films and videos presented by international galleries in a unique viewing experience; the Festival, a series of proposals related with moving image creation in the form of exhibitions, screenings and live performances around the city; and the Studies, a series of talks, workshops and professional meetings that foster the recognition and appreciation of video and film. Throughout the year LOOP undertakes projects that develop in collaboration with leading international agents and materialize in different formats and locations, from commissions to touring exhibitions in leading venues, conferences and film programmes, among others.

From the 30th of November to the 31st of January, the 12th edition of Bamako Encounters Photography Biennial will be an opportunity to dedicate a retrospective in honor of, and to celebrate, the 25th anniversary of the festival.

The Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Institut Français, is pleased to produce this international event. Created in 1994, Bamako Encounters is today the principal event dedicated to contemporary photography and new imagery in Africa.

Bamako Encounters is a platform for the promotion and visibility of photographers and video artists from Africa and its diasporas. It has helped to develop the career of many and for some has even given the opportunity to acquire an international stature. The 12th edition will be devoted to the topic "Stream of consciousness", a literary metaphor calling for a deep, lyrical, vibrant reflection on the act of photography.

The exhibition spaces are part of an urban network including the National Museum of Mali, epicenter of the event, as well as the District Museum, the Medina Gallery, and the Institute Francais of Bamako. Many other exhibitions around the city will increase opportunities for visitors.
