5th Gwangju Design Biennale's theme will be Anything, Something. Established by Gwangju Metropolitan City, the Gwangju Design Biennale was first initiated in 2004 to help promote the local design industry as well as contribute to the innovation and development of discourses and practices of design within the broader national and global context. An experimental design biennale was held in 2004, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Gwangju Biennale. With the official openning of the first Gwangju Design Biennale, "Light into Life" in 2005 there have been four editions, including "dogadobisangdo(design is design is not design)," the most recent, directed by Seung H-sang and Ai Weiwei.

The idea of DNA emanates from the desire to put focus on Copenhagen as an epicenter of classic and timeless Nordic design. On request from several players in the furniture industry the team behind DNA decided that Copenhagen is ready to rise as an international player on the furniture world map. Many strong furniture and light brands have their base in Copenhagen but only by joined force can we exploit the city’s full potential. The focus of the fair is to catch the essence of the Nordic high quality design and its creative DNA to show that Nordic design is contemporary, modern and innovative and evolves continuously while standing on shoulders of giants of the past. This is why the fair is simply named: DNA. Our inspiration for DNA does not solely come from the industry. We always tap into various insights in society and business to create an attractive environment for you- whether you are a retailer, an architect, an interior designer, a journalist or just passionate about design.

Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa The third Lisbon Architecture Triennale has launched his theme: CLOSE, CLOSER Close, Closer is conceived to examine the political, tech- nological, emotional, institutional and critical forms of global spatial practice. By publicly interrogating the terminology, practicalities, inspirations, inventions and their influences on the city, spatial practice are opend, one part of which is architecture, to be closer to vital new audiences and new publics. From within their discipline, architects strive to expand their practice through political, social theory, literature and philosophy. For the third Lisbon Architecture Triennale, the plurality of spatial practice will be presented as a multidimensional active and accessible idea. In September 2013 in Lisbon, four curatorial projects: Future Perfect, The Real and other Fictions, The Institute Effect and New Publics will examine distinct and discrete realms of spatial practice. From a laboratory of the future through to distorted atmospheres and political lobbying, the programme is intended to provide polar experiences and interpretations of spatial practice. The Crisis Buster small grants programme is an alternative to an open international competition. By inviting proposals for civic-minded interventions Triennial will invest and support the city’s entrepreneurs as well as encouraging architects and their collaborators to think about what small amountcould do to their local environment (awarding a number of grants ranging from €500 to €2,500 specifically for Lisbon based proposals).

First staged in 2003, the London Design Festival is one of the world's most important annual design events. The Festival programme is made up of over 300 events and exhibitions staged by hundreds of partner organisations across the design spectrum and from around the world. A centerpiece of the Festival is our commissions, the Landmark Projects, created with the help of our generous supporters. For the Landmark Projects we commission some of the world's greatest architects and designers to create pieces of work in some of London's best-loved public spaces. And then there are the Partner events; if anything is evidence of this city's vitality, it's the sheer scope and quality of the Festival events programmed by our Partners. From established businesses to emerging practies, from entrepreneurs to educators, from manufacturers to retailers, our Partners represent the heart of London's design culture. The Festival is both a cultural and a commercial event. The programme ranges from major international exhibitions to trade events, installations to talks and seminars, from product launches to receptions, private views and parties. The majority of events are free of charge - enabling visitors to participate, listen, learn, commission and make purchases.

The festival aims to reveal creative and production processes and encourage experimental work on the spot. It also presents and promotes design that in the first instance withdraws from the scheme of utility value and functionality in order to create awareness and pose questions or also simply just to have fun. The exploration of materials, mood values and the interaction between people and objects lie at the centre of design practice and consequently are important points of reference within VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
