The 15th edition of MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas, the Italian fair dedicated to fine art photography, is scheduled to take place at Superstudio Più on Via Tortona in Milan, from March 19 to 22, 2026. The event returns with a completely redesigned layout, conceived to make the exhibition path more fluid and to enhance the dialogue between galleries, artists, and the public. Organized by Fiere di Parma and directed by Francesca Malgara, the fair continues to strengthen its role as an international platform dedicated to contemporary photography, connecting artistic research, the market, and new technologies.
The theme of this year’s edition is Metamorfosi, a concept that runs through languages, identities, and creative processes. It draws inspiration from the transformations narrated by Ovid, as well as from the profound evolutions that today are reshaping the contemporary image, from analog photography to digital technologies and the new relationships between human and artificial. Photography thus becomes a tool to interpret the present and imagine new visual perspectives. The selection committee has chosen 111 exhibitors, including 76 galleries, with 27 international participants and 24 first-time exhibitors. These are joined by institutions, exhibitions, and special projects, along with 14 publishers and 6 media partners, confirming the increasingly international vocation of the fair. The exhibition path is structured into several sections that bring historical and contemporary photography into dialogue, along with documentary practices and artistic experimentation.
The Main Section brings together Italian and international galleries presenting exhibition projects connected to the theme Metamorphosis. Meanwhile, Beyond Photography – Dialogue, curated by Domenico de Chirico, explores the relationship between photography and other artistic languages such as sculpture, installation, painting, and performance, expanding the field of visual research.
Reportage Beyond Reportage, curated by Emanuela Mazzonis, investigates the transformations of documentary photography, which is increasingly oriented toward narrative forms capable of going beyond reportage to offer deeper interpretations of reality.
The Focus Latino section, curated by Rischa Paterlini, highlights artists from Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula, and diasporic communities, alongside international authors addressing themes such as identity, migration, and cultural transformation. Alongside the exhibition program, the fair also presents a series of special projects. Among them is the Deloitte Photo Grant, with artistic direction by Denis Curti, which showcases the works of the winners of the first three editions of the award, including Newsha Tavakolian, Davide Monteleone, and Carlos Idun-Tawiah, together with the project by Atefe Moeini, winner of the Open Call dedicated to artists under 35. BNL BNP Paribas presents the reportage Non si diventa grandi da soli by Giorgio Galimberti, a photographic narrative focused on everyday life in Milan’s suburbs, including the Giambellino district. The project is part of the IncluCity program, dedicated to the social inclusion of young people in major Italian cities.
Among the highlights is also the exhibition of Polaroids by William Wegman, presented at the stand of Aon by Galleria Alta, where the American artist’s famous Weimaraner dogs become the protagonists of ironic and surprising images that transform photography into a continuous play of visual metamorphoses.
