This Art Paris edition is also shaped by a special curatorial selection led by Gabriella Cortese, Antik Batik Founder and Designer, whose contribution reflects deeply on the theme of repair.
“As part of my partnership with Art Paris, I have curated a selection featuring ten artists whose work resonates deeply with me. Each, in their own way, explores what can be repaired: frayed bonds, erased narratives, wounded memories, or forms themselves. Repair, the theme of this edition, does not imply a return to the original state. On the contrary, it opens up a space for transformation. To repair is to acknowledge the flaw, accept the trace, and turn the scar into a place of meaning. It is an intimate act that requires time, attentiveness, and a form of trust in what can be reborn.
And of course, this resonates with the work I have been doing for so many years with artisans, particularly in India and Peru. The artists I have chosen explore material, history, and the living. Their works reveal processes of reconstruction: fragments reassembled, narratives reactivated, gestures repeated until a new form emerges. Through their practices, repair becomes a poetics but also an ethic, a way of caring. This journey invites us to slow down, to observe the traces, to consider vulnerability not as a weakness but as a potential for connection. The selection of artists is purely spontaneous and in no way diminishes the talent of all those who participate and give meaning to the fair” said Gabriella Cortese.
