Lumine presents tokyo sense, a new cultural platform developed in collaboration with Andreas Murkudis. Taking place during Paris Fashion Week Men’s in June 2026, the project brings Tokyo’s material-driven culture into a European retail and media context.

Featuring a curated selection of around 30 Japanese brands, tokyo sense reflects the country’s deep connection to craftsmanship and manufacturing, while highlighting how these traditions continue to evolve in a contemporary context. The project offers a focused, time-bound moment, clear in concept, and designed to extend beyond its duration. Tokyo sense is not a conventional pop-up; it operates between a multi-brand concept store, exhibition, and media platform. The project brings together a wide range of contemporary Japanese designers, makers, and brands within a structured spatial and editorial framework shaped by Lumine and Andreas Murkudis. It is built on exchange, connecting Tokyo and Paris, and more broadly linking Japan with the global fashion industry through design and curation. At the center of Tokyo Sense are the designers and makers themselves.

The project brings together multiple voices across fashion, craft, and object design. Each is presented with equal clarity, without hierarchy; together, they form a collective view of contemporary Japanese creativity.

“For me, this project is an opportunity to introduce the Japanese brands we work with to a wider network of customers, buyers, press, and industry professionals. Many of these brands are still not widely available in Europe, so the platform becomes a way to increase both visibility and accessibility,” said Andreas Murkudis. “The combination of different categories, including fashion, objects, books, and more, creates a richer and more engaging experience. I travel constantly and see many projects in different cities. There is a strong focus on speed and visibility, but often something essential is missing. That is what interested me here, and why I agreed to do it, especially with Lumine. Meeting our partner Lumine has enabled me to thoughtfully convey the excellence of Japanese craftsmanship in Paris. This project is about clarity, selection, and giving each brand the space to be understood. That is where real value lies.”

“We are pleased to announce the launch of our inaugural project, tokyo sense, in Paris, " commented Mr. Teruyuki Omote, president and ceo of Lumine. "Following the establishment of our global flagship in Singapore, we continue to expand internationally with a step into Paris, one of the world’s leading centers of fashion and culture. Japan holds a distinct sensibility shaped over time - in its attention to craftsmanship, detail, and a fashion culture that evolves with modern life. These qualities go beyond tradition and reflect a way of living that feels increasingly relevant today. We see it as our role to carry these values forward. Tokyo Sense represents a new chapter in this journey. In partnership with Andreas Murkudis, we present a curated perspective on fashion, craft, and culture. Through this project, we aim to create new connections by bringing Japan into dialogue with the world.”

Tokyo sense is designed as a platform, not a one-time event. Future editions will extend the concept to other cities. The aim is to build a format that can grow over time, connecting different creative communities. By combining curatorial focus with a clear business framework, tokyo sense proposes a new model, one that moves beyond traditional retail pop-ups and supports a broader cultural exchange.
