INDIA, Chandigarh - A start of mobilisation for the city‘s protection

Built by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in 1951, Chandigarh City (India) is chronically confronted to careless maintenance and to the dispersal of its furniture. A group of architects, historians and representatives is looking for the help of the international community and the UNESCO in oder to protect the Penjeab’s capital.

The militants, leaded by Manmohan Nath Sharma, first assistant of Le Corbusier and now head architect of the city, are claiming for a stronger legislation in order to prevent the sale in Europe of art pieces and furniture items.
